Moral als Luxus / Morality as a Luxury

Read the English version below ↓
“When immoral wealth sets the price of a normal life, morality becomes a luxury.”
Explanation
When income generated through exploitation, rule-breaking, or other immoral means helps set prices and societal standards, even those who play by the rules come under pressure. Moral behavior thus acquires a real economic cost. The idea has parallels to Robert K. Merton’s Strain Theory and the sociological concept of anomie: when societal goals remain in place while legitimate paths toward them become increasingly unattainable, the pressure grows to shift to illegitimate means.
